AUS East Coast Road Trip

The day has finally come. 88 days of farm work are over. A challenging and rewarding experience, but I am happy to be out of the avocado trees and on the road heading North now!

For a first overnight stop we went to Eurimbula National Park close to Town 1770. Entering the National Park, we drove half an hour over a dirt track and the investment in a 4x4 turns out to be worth it. It allows us to go hidden places in pure nature with spectacular sunsets and sunrise once again.

The next day we continued our trip further north through Rockhampton to Carmila Beach, camping there at the beachfront under the stars.

Back on the road even before sunrise, we managed to get passed Mackay. Accompanied by cows, wallabies, possums and eagles the road trip was quite enjoyable until a tyre blew off in the middle of nowhere.

We needed to get a bit creative, due to missing tools, to get the spare wheel fixed, but in the end we made it to Townsville. The mechanic ran into some trouble exchanging the tyres and we have been stuck here for 2 days now. Nevertheless, we made the best of the waiting time discovering the tropical city grounds, happily embracing the hot temperatures of northern Queensland’s winter.

Currently still waiting at the mechanics we will be able to continue our trip today late afternoon with a no worry-care-free-car (fingers crossed).

To be continued...
