Welcome to Whitehaven
After a brief stop in Airlie Beach and some preparations for our trip, we took a water taxi from Shute Harbour to Whitehaven Beach on the Whitsunday Island. It felt like waking up from a dream after these 2 days in a heavenly paradise. The pictures say it all: crystal clear water farming a dazzling white beach in the sunshine and a komodo dragon as our host.Camping there allowed us to see the beach without any tourists from the tours during the day and to enjoy the beach almost to ourselves. We could see some sting rays while snorkeling around and hiked up to a little hill to enjoy the view on the lovely beach.
